| Other Miaani Projects |
We have developed a special relationship with the people of Miaani, Kenya, an impoverished village in Africa, and with girls attending St. Mary's Senior Girls' Academy. This liaison between our parish, St. Michael, and the Kenya projects, began in 2004 and through your support we have funded the following projects:
St. Michael's Medical Clinic, a treatment center in Miaani, staffed by an administrator, a nurse and a laboratory technician. Your contributions have built the clinic, bought furniture, medical equipment and supplies and paid the salaries of the staff. We continue to maintain the operation of the clinic until it becomes self sufficient.
One hundred Miaani orphans were given school uniforms. This is a requirement for students to attend school.
Scholarships for girls to attend St. Mary’s Girls’ Senior Academy. Donations from you for room and board make it possible for young women, who would otherwise be unable to attend secondary school, to complete an education. Your donations in the past have built classrooms, a dormitory, bought books and a generator to provide lights so students had lighting to study at night. We are also helping one student attend a university in Nairobi. She is plans a career in public health and will return to Miaani to serve the people there and in other areas of Kenya.
